Tasting Note

92   2010  Peay  Scallop Shelf Pinot Noir (Sonoma Coast)   4/14/17  ($50)

   14.2% alc
Color: Healthy framboise. (3.0) Bouquet Red raspberry fruit with nuances of butter, Asian spice and cooking herbs. (3.5) Body: Solid middleweight with excellent acidity and fruit. Silky/tangy mouthfeel with richness. (3.0) Flavor: Parallels bouquet step for step, very tasty. (3.5) Finish: Shows pretty raspberry and pleasantly bitter quinine. Not quite as expressive as the flavor and bouquet. (3.0)
Overall: A more restrained version of Scallop Shelf compared to say the '09 or the '12, but this let's the complex herb and spice components come out more. Also shows a butteriness that hints that Pinot Noir and Chardonnay are in fact related. Drink now and in the next 2 years. (16.0)
