Tasting Note

93+   2009  Peay   Pomarium Pinot Noir (Sonoma Coast)   12/18/15  ($52)

  14.1% alc
Color: Deep black cherry with hints of brown. (3.0) Bouquet: Sweet black cherry with interesting Asian spice. Elegant with intensity. (3.5) Body: Light heavyweight with a silky mouthfeel. Excellent fruit and acidity. (3.5) Flavor: Tangy black cherry that is not as interesting as the bouquet at this point, but still very tasty. (3.0) Finish: Parallels bouquet with even more spice character lingering. (3.5)
Overall: A fantastic California Pinot Noir, showing elegant yet intense black cherry fruit with excellent acidity and exotic Asian spice, all on a light heavyweight frame. This is as Burgundian as California gets. Outstanding for now drinking, but will likely go another 2-4 years. Might even improve. (16.5)
