Tasting Note

88   2013  Paul Anheuser   Blanc de Noir Pinot Noir (Nahe - Qualitatswein)   5/17/15  ($18)

11.5% alc
Color: Medium yellow. (3.0) Bouquet: Tart pear and dried apple with a grainy minerality. Lively with a sweet/tart charm and subtle herbal nuances. (3.0) Body: Middleweight with very good fruit and tart acidity. (2.5) Flavor: Parallels bouquet with a slight sweetness countering the tart minerality. (3.0) Finish: Parallels flavor, but not quite as attractive and a little short. (2.5)
Overall: An interesting, minerally white from the Nahe made from 100% Pinot Noir. Its sweet/tart pear and dried apple fruit are lively and appealing. The tart acidity counter-balanced by a hint of sweetness makes this a great choice for warmer-weather fare or on its own. (14.0)
