Tasting Note

88+   NV  Ojai  White Table Wine (Santa Barbara)   11/10/13 ($18)

a blend of Chardonnay, Riesling and Viognier (that's what their website says, but they usually include Sauvignon Blanc too)
Color: Medium gold. (3.0) Bouquet: Beeswax, key lime and minerality. Both young fruit and more mature nuances present. Interesting. (3.0) Body: Solid middleweight with nice viscosity in the mouth. Has sufficient fruit with excellent acidity keeping it lively. (3.0) Flavor: The fruit could be fresher, but the mature Viognier flavors combined with citrusy tartness make a nice combo. (2.5) Finish: Fruit starts to fade here, but tartness and mature flavors linger. (2.5)
Overall: This is ready to go (don't wait) with mature, slightly Madeira-like fruit flavors, combined with lively tartness and acidity. Also flavors of beeswax, key lime and minerality. Thought provoking and different, having a combination of youthful and mature flavors. Drinks something like a fully developed Savenierres. This should appeal to lovers of mature Chardonnay, Viognier or Chenin Blanc. (14)
