Color: Medium deep black cherry. (3.0) Bouquet: Red clay and black olives complement sweet black cherry. Expressive and elegant. (3.0) Body: Middleweight with excellent fruit and very good acidity. Tangy mouthfeel with just a hint of spritz. (2.5) Flavor: Parallels bouquet. Tasty. (3.0) Finish: Parallels flavor with subtle tannins lingering. (3.0)
Overall: A very expressive, elegant Southern Italian red with prominent red clay and black olive nuances, complementing sweet black cherry fruit. Lighter in weight and less concentrated than the '12. Also has a hint of spritz, but no off flavors. Still well worth the price, just not quite as outstanding a value as the last vintage. (14.5)
