Tasting Note

88+    2002 Mulderbosch Sauv.Blanc     8/22/03 ($17)

Color: Pretty light yellow. (3.0) Bouquet: Lively, intense grass and gooseberry with some lime and mineral. Strong varietal character. (3.5) Body: Medium weight with good acidity, but could be more intense.(3.0) Flavor: Parallels bouquet step for step, but a bit less intense. (3.0) Finish: Parallels flavor, but lighter and more tart, although still lingering. (2.0)
Overall: High quality with more class than comparable New Zealand Sauv.Blancs. It is a bit young and should improve in the next year or two. Very good stuff, but I was expecting more for all the wine press hoopla. I think Kanu is almost as good for about $12, this one’s regularly $19. (14.5)
