Tasting Note

90   1996 Bernard Morey et Fils Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru La Truffiere 12/24/06 ($40)

Color: Medium gold, looks ready. (3.0) Bouquet: Buttered toast and spiced apple. Pretty and charming. (3.5) Body: Solid middleweight with excellent acidity, particularly for its age, but could be more concentrated with more fruit. (3.0) Flavor: More tart than the bouquet with less spiced apple fruit, but has a nice mineral component. (3.0) Finish: Parallels flavor step-for-step. Has length, but lacks distinction. (2.5)
Overall: An excellent white Burgundy with acidity that still gives it a youthful profile. Unfortunately, it seems to lack the concentration and fruit to improve with more time. (15.0)
