Tasting Note

90    2009  Mitolo  Jester Shiraz  (McLaren Vale)   7/20/12 ($20)

    14.9% alc
Overall: Deep purple garnet color. Tart blueberry, blackberry and candied cherry uplifted by excellent acidity with subtle cocoa oak. A light heavyweight with a rich mouthfeel and smooth tannins underneath. Tart acidity, blackberry and meat flavors linger in the finish. This is my kind of Aussie Shiraz, where fruit and acidity shine without too much oak and jammy extraction getting in the way. Very enjoyable stuff for drinking now and in the next 2 years. Goes great with pork ribs or lamb. (15.0)
