Tasting Notes

89+   2009  Thierry et Pascale Matrot  Bourgogne Blanc   11/28/10 ($17)

     12.5% alc
Color: Medium gold. (3.0) Bouquet: Tart pear and pineapple with lively acidity and minerality. (3.0) Body: Solid middleweight with very good fruit and excellent acidity. Lively minerals coat the mouth. (3.0) Flavor: Parallels bouquet with fruit more prominent. (3.0) Finish: Parallels bouquet with minerality lingering, but could have more intensity. Green apple flavor adds a slight bitterness. (2.5)
Overall: Another excellent Bourgogne Blanc from this producer. Shows a little more concentration and fruit than the '08, but not quite the outstanding '07. Nonetheless, this delivers a lot of Burgundy character at a very reasonable price. Excellent value. (14.5)
