Tasting Note

91+  2010  Maxime Magnon  Campagnés  (Corbiéres)  7/31/14 ($35)

100% Carignan    14% alc
Color: Deep purple black cherry. (3.0) Bouquet: Tart plum, blueberry, black raspberry and guava. Almost smells like a ripe, minerally Chardonnay. Different. (3.0) Body: Excellent fruit and acidity. Silky/tangy mouthfeel. A well-balanced, solid middleweight. (3.0) Flavor: Parallels bouquet, but more lively with some baking spices thrown in. (3.5) Finish: Most lively here with tangy minerality lingering. (3.5)
Overall: Shows an interesting mix of old vines fruit flavors (tart plum, blueberry, black raspberry and guava), but these are somewhat restrained at present. Its elegant, yet lively minerality and silky/tangy mouthfeel are more attractive at this point. It should improve with a few years bottle age. (16.0)
