Tasting Note

87+   2009  Frederic Mabileau  St Nicolas de Bourgueil-Les Rouillères  9/1/11 ($15)

  12.5% alc
Color: Deep purple garnet. (3.0) Bouquet: Tangy gray clay, radish and green pepper combine with dry cassis fruit and some spice. (3.0) Body: Solid middleweight with very good flavor intensity and tannin. Could use a little more acidity and sweetness in the fruit. (3.0) Flavor: Parallels bouquet, but not as expressive. (2.5) Finish: Turns even more dry here. (2.5)
Overall: Excellent quality and concentration for the price, but a little young and closed, showing dry tannins
. Improved after 24 hours in the frig, so should improve with 2-4 years bottle age. Drank about 86 the first day and 88 the second. (14.0)
