Tasting Note

90+   2006  Frederic Mabileau  St Nicolas de Bourgueil-Les Rouillères  10/3/09 ($15)

  13% alc
Color: Deep raspberry-garnet. (3.0) Bouquet: Cassis, forestal nuances and spice (nutmeg and thyme) with a mineral component. Very lively and complex. (3.0) Body: Perky acidity and rich fruit coat the mouth with sufficient tannins. Solid middleweight. (3.0) Flavor: Parallels bouquet, with a little more tannin showing. (3.0) Finish:Again, parallels bouquet, but not quite as nuanced. (3.0)
Overall: This is a perfectly balanced, complex Cabernet Franc. True to form with lively acidity, forestal/mineral terroir and lean, zippy cassis fruit. A great food wine that drinks excellent now and may improve in the next 1-3 years. Great value! (15.0)
