Tasting Note

89 2001 Leasingham Magnus Shiraz(52%)/Cab(48%) Clare Valley 1/29/05 ($9)

Color: Deep purple-garnet. Young. (3.5) Bouquet: Blackberry jam (Shiraz) and cassis (Cab) fruit with good acidity, tannin and oak complementing. (3.0) Body: Well balanced with concentrated fruit supported by acidity and tannin. (3.0) Flavor: Parallels bouquet, but some bitterness and not as forward, a bit young. (2.5) Finish: Parallels flavor with surprising backbone and length for the price. (2.5)
Overall: A fantastic value that may make excellent with a little more bottle age. Great with a steak even now. Should be at its best in the next 1-2 years. (14.5)
