Tasting Note

90+  2007 Lauverjat Sancerre Rosé (Moulin des Vrillères)  8/24/08 ($19)

     12.5% alc
Color: Medium salmon. (3.0) Bouquet: Strawberries, lime, minerals and acidity. Aromatic and charming with intensity. (3.0) Body: Solid middleweight with excellent acidity and fruit. A tangy mouthfeel with some silkiness. (3.0) Flavor: Parallels bouquet. Tart strawberry with lime. Vey lively stuff. (3.0) Finish: Parallels flavor with lots of minerals and fruit lingering. (3.0)
Overall: Very lively and aromatic strawberry/lime fruit. Very white Sancerre with crisp, minerally zip and forward fruit, but this is Pinot Noir, not Sauvignon Blanc, making it more aroamtic with extra body and tart red fruit, but also elegance. A terrific rosé that's both fun and serious at the same time. Great in summer to accompany meat or fish, but this has the body and quality to be enjoyed all year round. (15.0)
