Tasting Note

87  2008 Chateau Lascaux  Coteaux du Languedoc (J.B.Cavalier)  1/30/11 ($15)

  13%alc
Color: Deep garnet. (3.0) Bouquet: White chalk and mineral complement blackberry jam fruit and white pepper, a little restrained. (2.5) Body: Solid middleweight with very good fruit and mineral/chalk. (3.0) Flavor: Parallels bouquet. (2.5) Finish: More chalk and mineral with violets. (2.5)
Overall: A very good Languedoc with excellent chalk and mineral and very good blackberry fruit. There's nothing sweet or over-ripe about it and shows good structure with smooth tannins underneath, but restrained. Needs time to open and may improve in the next 2-4 years. Even now shows balanced/smooth drinkability after an hour of decanting. (13.5)
