Tasting Note

90+    2005 Sarl Marcel Lapierre Morgon     7/7/07 ($20)

13% alc
Color: Medium purple-ruby. Not deep, but rich and pretty. (2.5) Bouquet: Spice, cherries and beef broth with lively structure. (3.0) Body: Solid middleweight with very good acidity and some tannin supporting solid fruit. (3.0) Flavor: Parallels bouquet with some spicy cedar and black pepper. (3.0) Finish: Parallels bouquet. Long and very aromatic. Tastes like Pinot Noir, not Gamay here. (3.5)
Overall: This is already excellent and should put on some weight and richness and gain more complexity in the next 2-4 years. Shows impressive structure and elegance. It drinks more like a red Burgundy from Beaune than a Beaujolais. Fine stuff! (15.0)
