Tasting Note

89   2014  Lapierre  Morgon (Cru Beaujolais)   1/8/16  ($26)

12 % alc
Color: Medium purple raspberry. (2.5) Bouquet: Tart red raspberry and black plum fruit. Soft, yet shows lively minerality. (3.0) Body: Light middleweight with very good fruit and excellent acidity/minerality. Soft/tangy mouthfeel. (3.0) Flavor: Spicy white pepper and tart mineral earth complement precise raspberry fruit. (3.0) Finish: Parallels flavor. Could be longer, but consistent with its weight. (2.5)
Overall: A very good Morgon from a lighter vintage. Doesn't show the weight, concentration or complexity of the '13, but has similar spice and mineral components. A fine choice for now drinking with lighter fare. Could improve with 2-3 years bottle age. (14)
