Tasting Note

89   2006 Claude LaFond  Reuilly  Clos Fussay   11/8/08 ($14)

   12.5% alc   (Loire-Sauv. Blanc)
Color: Medium gold. (3.0) Bouquet: Citrus, grass, minerals and an herbal component reminiscent of wet moss. Distinctive. (3.0) Body: Solid middleweight plus with good fruit and zippy acidity with tang. A little oatmeal in the mouth. (3.0) Flavor: Parallels bouquet with a classy restraint. (3.0) Finish: Parallels bouquet, but more tart and not as distinctive. (2.5)
Overall: Very good Loire Sauvignon Blanc with excellent character. It could certainly pass for a $25 Pouilly Fumé. Excellent value. If it could remain as distinctive throughout as it does in the bouquet, it would be excellent. Stands up to food very well.(14.5)
