Color: Very deep purple-ruby. (3.5) Bouquet: Concentrated black licorice, coffee and subtle tar combine with rich blackberry. Slight heat. (3.0) Body: Silky mouthfeel that coats with excellent fruit and acidity, smooth tannins underneath. Heavyweight. (3.0) Flavor: Parallels bouquet, but shows some bitterness here. (3.0) Finish: Licorice lingers with richness and elegance. (3.0)
Overall: Well put together with concentrated black licorice accompanied by coffee, tar and blackberries. Fruit becomes sweeter with extended air. Will be interesting to see if there is anything beyond the fruit and structure that develops with time. Also, will the high alcohol remain as integrated as it is now. Drink now after a long decanting or age for 3-6 years. (15.5)
