Tasting Note

91    1996 Louis Jadot Chambolle-Musigny Les Fuees     5/21/06 ($55)

13.5% alc
Color: Pretty, deep ruby. (3.0) Bouquet: Fresh, tart cherries with veal broth, pine, mint and black pepper. A little gout de vieux, but very lively. (3.0) Body: A solid middleweight with excellent acidity, propelling good fruit and modest complexity. (3.0) Flavor: Parallels bouquet, but not as forward and attractive. (2.5) Finish: Parallels bouquet with length, but a little restrained, may need another 1-2 years. Shows the restrained power of Chambolle with silky mouthfeel lingering. (3.5)
Overall: Had to give it an extra point because of its breed and class. Could be more complex, but silky with restrained power. Fine Chambolle always amazes me with its combo of silky elegance, combined with solid body and persistent finish. Ironic. (15.0)
