Tasting Note

90  2009  Louis Jadot  Chateau des Jacques  Moulin a Vent   11/10/11 ($20)

Color: Deep black cherry. (3.0) Bouquet: Some gravelly earth on top of dense, dried blackberry fruit with forestal spice. Smells like an elegant Crozes Hermitage. (3.0) Body: Excellent fruit and acidity. Light heavyweight. with excellent fruit and acidity. (3.0) Flavor: Zippy dark berry fruit and forestal complexity. Tastes more like a cross between a Rhone wine and a Red Burgundy. (3.0) Finish: Zippy fruit and herbal complexity linger. (3.0)
Overall: Very well put together from start to finish, but a little restrained at this point. Its dried dark berry fruit is propelled by excellent acidity, but it's the old vines muskiness that is most impressive for me. Give it 3-5 years or decant for a couple of hours. (15)
