Tasting Note

96   2004  Isole e Olena  Cepparello (I.G.T.)   10/15/16  ($60)

100% Sangiovese   14% alc
Color: Deep brick red garnet. Looks young for 12. (3.0) Bouquet: Very precise, acidity-propelled red and black cherry with elegant mushroom, roast nuts and herb nuances. (3.5) Body: Light heavyweight with outstanding acidity and excellent fruit. Tangy mouthfeel that coats without being the least bit heavy. (3.5) Flavor: Tart cherries are more smooth and delicious here. (3.5) Finish: Long and very elegant, yet very distinctive. Best part. (4.0)
Overall: This is classic Sangiovese from the Chianti Classico region. More elegant and pretty than any Brunello, yet just as distinctive and well structured as the finest Brunello Riserva. Serious stuff that's an absolute joy to drink. My kind of Sangiovese! (17.5)
