Color: Dark framboise with a touch of onion skin, but not clearing much. (3.0) Bouquet: White truffles and smoked leaves with rich raspberry fruit. Silky, but full (fills the glass). (3.5) Body: Solid middleweight with excellent acidity propelling the complex nuances and rich fruit. (3.0) Flavor: Parallels bouquet with wonderful truffles, game and wet leaves complementing spicy raspberry fruit. (3.5) Finish: Parallels flavor with thyme and nutmeg nuances. Could be bigger and longer, but still excellent. (3.0)
Overall: Rich, spicy and delicious. Not big or in-your-face, but true to Volnay. An excellent example that I like very much. It is peak and will probably remain so for a couple of more years. (16.0)
