Tasting Note

88   1999 Vincent Girardin Chambolle-Musigny  Les Amoureuses  2/13/10 ($62)

   13% alc
Color: Medium deep framboise. (3.0) Bouquet: Faded roses, veal broth and black cherry with Indian spices. (3.0) Body: Very good fruit and acidity with a little tannin. A middleweight that could use more structure and concentration. (2.5) Flavor: Parallels bouquet. (3.0) Finish: Parallels bouquet, but less distinctive and a little short. (2.5)
Overall: This has the elegance expected from a fine Chambolle, but not the structure. It also shows good fruit, but could be more lively. I do like the Indian spice complexity, but I think this would have been more to my liking 2-3 years ago. It's weak for the appellation and price. A likeable, easy-drinking Burgundy, but nothing more. Drink now. (14.0)
