Tasting Note

89   2005 Vincent Girardin Santenay Les Gravieres     11/20/11 ($34)

  13.5% alc
Color: Deep black cherry. (3.0) Bouquet: Black truffle, root beer and black cherry with lively acidity. (3.0) Body: Solid middleweight with excellent acidity and very good fruit. (2.5) Flavor: Parallels bouquet with a zippy liveliness. (3.0) Finish: Shows excellent length. (3.0)
Overall: Excellent minerality and acidity propelling tart black cherry fruit and black truffle/root beer complexity. Could be richer and more structured, but very enjoyable with lighter fare. Last tasted 3.5 years ago. It has matured, but has not improved. Should be peak in another 2-3 years? Then again, it might be wise to drink it now while the fruit is still intact. (14.5)
