Tasting Notes

87   2002  Vincent Girardin  Sauvigny-les-Beaune  Les Serpentieres  9/22/11 ($30)

  13.5% alc
Color: Medium deep raspberry. (3.0) Bouquet: Dried raspberry with nice concentration, but not sweet. Shows some veal broth and subtle cooking spice complexity. (2.5) Body: Middleweight with very good fruit and acidity and a lively mouthfeel. (3.0) Flavor: Parallels bouquet, but with more charming fruit. (3.0) Finish: Parallels bouquet. (2.5)
Overall: Tastes like Savigny with lean raspberry fruit and some subtle cooking spices, supported by acidity. The fruit even has some concentration, but it's not sweet or charming and shows chalky bitterness in the finish. Enjoyable, but far from exciting. Drink now and in the next 2 years. (14.0)
