Tasting Note

90 2002 V.Girardin Savigny-les-Beaune Les Peuillets 10/22/04 ($26)

Color: Purple-Burgundy robe that is deep for the appellation. (3.5) Bouquet: Rich dried cherry, cedar and cinnamon with youthful restraint. (3.0) Body: Well balanced with good fruit, but more dried than ripe with some dry tannins and bitterness. (2.5) Flavor: Dried cherry and cedary oak. Sweet and dry at the same time. (2.5) Finish: Gamy, cedary complexity shows here in a smooth, balanced package. Long and classy. (3.5)
Overall: Borders on excellent now and is bound to improve in the next 2-3 years. Could have riper fruit, but still balanced and classy. (15.0)
