Tasting Note

90    2009  Foxen  Santa Maria Valley  Pinot Noir   6/29/12 ($25)

      14.4% alc
Color: Deep red plum. (3.0) Bouquet: Cola and spiced baked apple with lively acidity. (3.0) Body: Solid middleweight with excellent acidity and fruit. A hint of heat, but well balanced. (3.0) Flavor: Parallels bouquet, but even better. Very tasty. (3.0) Finish: Cinnamon and ginger spice linger with the fruit. (3.0)
Overall: An excellent example of what Santa Maria Valley Pinot is all about. With fruit that is ripe and spicy, yet restrained for CA with excellent acidity keeping it light on its feet. Excellent value at this price, regularly about $30. (15.0)
