Tasting Note

89  2008 Four Vines  Biker  Zinfandel (Paso Robles)   2/5/11 ($22)

  15.0%alc
Color: Deep black cherry. (3.0) Bouquet: Ripe black cherry and berry fruit. Smooth and rich with a little alcohol. (2.5) Body: Solid middleweight plus with excellent fruit, smooth mouthfeel that coats and very good balancing acidity. (3.0) Flavor: Parallels bouquet, but fruit is more giving. Also smoother with less austerity. (3.0) Finish: Parallels flavor, but shows a little bitterness from oak, making the fruit less distinctive. Still long and tasty. (3.0)
Overall: A rich, ripe, very tasty Paso Robles Zin that's consistently this good. It just misses excellent for me, as usual, because it's not quite distinctive enough and could also use a little more structure. Nonetheless, very tasty, crowd-pleasing stuff. (14.5)
