Tasting Note

87   2005 Four Vines Dusi Vineyard Zinfandel   7/29/08 ($32)

Color: Purple-smoky garnet, like the Ridge, but slightly darker. Not as deep as the Rosenblum. (3.0) Bouquet: Very ripe black cherry and figs. Very smooth with just enough acidity to support and a little sweet oak. (3.0) Body: Middleweight with very ripe fruit, but could be more concentrated and lacks structure. Could use more acidity and some tannin. (2.0) Flavor: Sour raspberry and cherry with some acidity. (2.5) Finish: Parallels flavor, but fades away quickly. Kind of falls off the cliff here, but still tasty while it lasts. (2.5)
Overall: Starts out strong with concentrated, very ripe fruit in the bouquet, but the structure is weak. Flavor and finish are ripe and tasty with some tartness to balance, but not distinctive. Drink now and in the next year or so. (13.0)
