Tasting Note

89   2011  Domaine de Fontsainte Resérve  La Demoiselle (Corbières)   4/13/14 ($15)

70% Carignan (100 year old vines), 20% Grenache, 10% Mourvedre    14.5% alc
Color: Deep purple black cherry. (3.0) Bouquet: Roasted red pepper, licorice, bacon and subtle tar complement rich, tart black plum and blackberry fruit. (3.0) Body: Excellent acidity and fruit with a smooth mouthfeel. Middleweight. (3.0) Flavor: Paralles bouquet, but not as distinctive. Still very tasty with minerality. (3.0) Finish: Lively minerality lingers, but the other flavors fall off quickly. (2.5)
Overall: Lively minerality and acidity prop up the middleweight fruit with nuances of roasted red pepper, licorice, bacon and tar. The black plum and blackberry show richness without being heavy. Finish is a little short, but should improve with time. Drink now and in the next few years. Always an excellent value. (14.5)
