Tasting Note

90+   2000 Chateau Fontarney (Margaux)   8/2/08 ($25)

12.5% alc
Color: Deep garnet. Approaching maturity, but no onion skin to speak of. (3.0) Bouquet: Beautiful violets with cassis and some graphite. Elegant and aromatic. (3.0) Body: Solid middleweight with excellent fruit and good acidity and tannin to balance. (3.0) Flavor: Parallels bouquet, but cassis and violets are even more giving and delicious. (3.0) Finish: Parallels flavor, but more tannin comes in, indicating 1-3 more years of peakness. (3.0)
Overall: What a solid, delicious second wine (of Chateau Desmirail). This shows cassis and violets with fine Margaux terroir and enough structure to give it Mojo now and in the next 1-3 years. Great balance and a Great value. (15.0)
