Tasting Note

92   2010  Jean Foillard  Morgon  Cote du Py   2/24/13 ($35)

   13% alc
Color: Deep raspberry to black cherry. (3.0) Bouquet: Gray clay, wet leaves, black truffles and other forestal nuances complement black cherry and raspberry fruit with minerality. (3.5) Body: Solid middleweight plus with excellent fruit and acidity. Silky, tangy mouthfeel. (3.0) Flavor: Parallels bouquet with even more mineral intensity. (3.5) Finish: Long, but not quite as expressive as the flavor. (3.0)
Overall: Not quite as much racy fruit as the '09, but shows more complexity. Minerals and acidity propel the attractive black cherry and raspberry fruit. The nuances of wet leaves and black truffles are very Burgundian. This could pass for a 1er Cru Volnay from a fine producer. Drinks excellent already, but should improve in the next 3-5 years. (16.0)
