Tasting Note

90+   2011   Jean Foillard  Morgon  Cote du Py    5/17/13 ($35)

100% Gamay  13% alc
Color: Deep black cherry, particularly for Beaujolais. (3.5) Bouquet: Red and black raspberries and tart cherries with excellent minerality. Slight bitterness. (3.0) Body: Rich silky mouthfeel with excellent fruit and acidity. Light Heavyweight. (3.5) Flavor: Parallels bouquet. Young and fierce. (3.0) Finish: Long with distinction, but shows a slight bitterness and a little burn. (2.5)
Overall: Not as fruity as the '09 and not as complex as the '10, but still excellent and ageworthy (4-6 years). Decant a few hours for now drinking. Has Asian spice nuances that should get more interesting with time. (15.5)
