Tasting Note

91+   2006 Felsina Chianti Classico Riserva  11/28/09 ($25)

Color: Medium deep garnet. (3.0) Bouquet: Bright, dusty cherry liquore with beef broth and cigarbox. Classic. (3.0) Body: Excellent fruit and acidity with just the right amount of cigarbox. Solid middleweight with a silky mothfeel. (3.0) Flavor: Parallels bouquet, but the fruit is sweeter here. Tangy and very tasty. (3.5) Finish: Parallels bouquet with some tannin lingering. Could be sweeter, but long, smooth and fine. (3.0)
Overall: A classic Chianti Classico Riserva, which is very well balanced and can be enjoyed right now. It will likely benefit from 2-5 years of bottle age. Similar to the '06 Selvapiana Riserva, but this has better balance at a better price. (15.5)
