Tasting Note

91+   2004 Felsina Chianti Classico Riserva  2/5/10 ($25)

   13.5% alc
Color: Deep garnet. (3.0) Bouquet: Almonds and pistachios with vanilla nougat and rich fruit, like Torrone candy with sweet cherries. Also a pungent, yet elegant, Tuscan clay component and some interesting Tawny Port-like nuances. (3.5) Body: Solid middleweight plus with excellent fruit and acidity that coat the mouth. (3.0) Flavor: Parallels bouquet, but not as open with fierce acidity. (3.0) Finish: Parallels bouquet step-for-step with outstanding length and some healthy, smooth tannins. (3.5)
Overall: Classic CC Riserva that's in an intermediate phase, showing youthful fruit/structure with excellent terroir and secondary nuances. Wonderful for now drinking and may improve  in the next 2-4 years. This and the '06 version are both outstanding for the price.(16.0)
