Tasting Note

89   2015  Felsina   Chianti Classico (Toscano)   2/2/18  ($20)

   14% alc
Color: Medium deep garnet. (3.0) Bouquet: Tuscan metallic minerals and dusty earth, propelled by edgy acidity, complement tart and stewed cherry fruit. (3.0) Body: Solid middleweight with excellent acidity and very good fruit. The edge to the acidity makes it a little imbalanced at present. (2.5) Flavor: Parallels bouquet, but fruit is a bit more charming here. (3.0) Finish: Very much like the flavor with racy acidity and minerals being very intense, yet keeps it together. (3.0)
Overall: What an intense expression of Chianti Classico terroir with metallic minerality out the ying yang. Its tart and stewed cherry fruit is able to just meet, but the minerality does show dominance at times. This needs 2-3 years to calm down (much more charming on day 2), but is very food friendly even now. (14.5)
