Tasting Note

92   2010  Felsina  Chianti Classico Riserva    1/23/16  ($26)

   14% alc
Color: Deep red brick to garnet. (3.0) Bouquet: Madeira, spicy nuts and dusty Tuscan terroir nuances combine with bitter/sweet black cherry fruit. (3.0) Body: Solid middleweight to light heavyweight with excellent fruit, acidity and smooth tannins underneath. Tangy mouthfeel. (3.0) Flavor: Tart cherry pie with nuts on top. My favorite part. (3.5) Finish: Parallels flavor with slightly austere acidity and sticksey forestal nuances. Long. (3.5)
Overall: Tart cherry pie with nuts on top along with forestal sticks and cedar. Textbook Chianti Classico Riserva with outstanding structure and balance for the price. As good as the Rancia in this vintage, not as complex but more balanced. Could improve in the next few years as the structure integrates into the fruit more. Outstanding value!!! (16.0)
