Tasting Note

92+   2004   Felsina  Rancia Chianti Classico Riserva    11/20/16  ($42)

   13% alc
Color: Deep garnet, no browning. (3.5) Bouquet: Acidity-propelled tart cherry with ground nuts on top. (3.5) Body: Light heavyweight with excellent acidity, smooth tannins and very good fruit. Smooth, tangy mouthfeel. (3.0) Flavor: Parallels bouquet, but fruit is tart, not as attractive. (3.0) Finish: Tart fruit is long and lively, but complexity and richness doesn't shine through enough. (3.0)
Overall: An excellent CC Riserva with lively, tart cherry fruit complemneted by ground nuts and dusty Tuscan terroir. The fruit could be more rich and the complexity more prominent, but it is a little young so hopefully it will improve in the next 2-4 years. Still very enjoyable and food friendly. (16)
