Tasting Note

91+  2010  Livio Felluga  Pinot Grigio (Collio - Friuli)    9/29/12 ($23)

  13% alc
Color: Deep yellow. (3.0) Bouquet: Intense mineral and sur lie nuances with tart lime, lemon and green apple with a little peach. (3.0) Body: Tangy mouthfeel with concentration that coats the mouth. Outstanding acidity with excellent fruit. Solid middleweight to light heavyweight. (3.5) Flavor: Parallels bouquet with more expressive/distinctive fruit and sur lie. (3.5) Finish: Long, intense and rich. Very crisp, pure and monerally. (3.0)
Overall: This is one serious Pinot Grigio. Intense minerality and sur lie nuances complement lemon/lime and green apple fruit. Has a grainy richness to it, yet crisp and very precise. A little youthfully austere at present, making it cry out for food. Should get even better as it calms down a little in the next 3-5 years. (16.0)
