Tasting Note

91    2005 Marco Felluga Collio Pinot Grigio    8/4/07 ($16)

This parallels the 2004 with surprising intensity for a Pinot Grigio. Very distinctive with brine and minerals complementing lime and green apple. This is a little more backward than the ’04 was when tasted in Jan., but should smooth out and possibly develop into something even better. Another fine showing for this wine at a terrific price. Its dryness and mineral intensity make it a little austere by itself at present. So, pair it with oysters, clams or scallops. Tastes like a cross between a Muscadet and a white Burgundy.
