Tasting Note

88+(?)   2005 Marco Felluga Molamatta Collio   6/29/07 ($18)

40% Tocai Friulano, 40% Pinot Bianco, 20% Ribolla Gialla 13% alc
Color: Light yellow straw. (3.0) Bouquet: Wet stones and dried flowers with supporting acidity. Somewhat muted at present. (2.5) Body: Solid middleweight to light heavyweight that is dry, full and tart. Smooth mouthfeel with very good acidity supporting the fruit. (3.0) Flavor: Parallels bouquet, but more open with white raisins and crushed stones. Very dry. Not particularly fruity (dried fruit flavors), but has power that lifts up the nuances. (3.0) Finish: Parallels flavor, but a little alcohol sticks out here with some stony bitterness. (2.5)
Overall: Very dry and stony, which is typical for Tocai Friulano, but has something extra in the concentration and nuances that should reward patience, 1-3+ years of bottle age. Don’t serve too cold, as you’ll put the nuances to sleep. (14.0)
