Tasting Note

95    1993 Faiveley Corton Clos des Cortons 12/20/03   ($90)

Color: Deep ruby with slight clearing. Looks like a peaking solid middleweight.(3.0) Bouquet: Ripe plum and cedar with wet leaves and a slight gout de vieux.(3.0) Body: Surprising power and tannin based on color. A very well balanced Burgundy that is just peaking.(4.0) Flavor: Rich and long with flavors paralleling bouquet step for step.(3.0) Finish: Long, rich and throat-coating plum and blackberry with elegant forestal nuances.(4.0)
Overall: Just makes greatness and just peaking, so has room to improve in the next 2-3 years. Consistently one of the best reds from the Cote de Beaune and always a pleasure to drink.(17.0)
