Tasting Note

87     2002 Georges DuBoeuf Pouilly-Fuisse      3/12/04($16)

Color: Medium yellow.(3.0) Bouquet: Mineral and gravel integrated with intense lemon peel. Excellent acidity.(3.0) Body: Intense mineral and Macon soil combine well with crisp acidity. Very dry, could use more fruit.(3.0) Flavor: Macon earthiness is prevalent in the flavor, where it slightly overtakes the lemon and pear fruit. Some bitterness.(2.0) Finish: Tart lemon and wet stones in the finish. Refreshing, with intense acidity. Again, could use more fruit.(2.5)
Overall: Possesses the intensity of the vintage, but a little lacking in fruit. Still quite enjoyable and stands up to food well. A very good entry level white Burgundy. Most Macons don’t deserve to be included in the white Burgundy category. This one does for a reasonable price.(13.5)
