Tasting Note

87+     2004 Vale do Bomfim Douro Reserva (by Dow)     8/11/06 ($10)

Color: Medium deep purple garnet. Can see the vintage Port resemblance. (3.0) Bouquet: Has an herbal earthiness similar to Chilean Cabernet, but classier, with sweet , tart cherry fruit and a lively mineralliness. (3.0) Body: Middleweight with a little tannin and excellent acidity. (2.5) Flavor: Similar to bouquet, but a little less giving and interesting. (2.5) Finish: Parallels flavor. Medium length. (2.5)
Overall: Very tasty with a French profile (dry with structure) combined with rich fruit. Great with red meat or any meat off the grill. Might benefit from a year or so of bottle age, but I suspect it may be at its best right now. (13.5).
