Color: Medium deep black cherry. (3.0) Bouquet: Minerals, clay, green pepper complement raspberry and stewed cherry fruit. (3.0) Body: Middleweight with a smooth, silky mouthfeel and very good flavor concentration for its weight. (2.5) Flavor: Parallels bouquet with more green pepper and roasted vegetable nuances. (2.5) Finish: The finish echoes with vegetable and wet leaf nuances. Interesting. (3.0)
Overall: An intersting and very drinkable middleweight. Somewhere in between a Cab Franc from the Loire and a fine Bourgogne Rouge. The Mencia fruit is a little thinner than from other regions, such as Bierzo, but I like the added minerals and complexity. (14.0)
