Tasting Note

91    2006  Diochon  Moulin à Vent  Vielles Vignes   4/2/12 ($17)

 100% Gamay  13% alc
Color: Medium deep framboise. (3.0) Bouquet: Tart strawberry and red plum with racy acidity and minerals. Some tangy old vines complexity as well. (3.5) Body: Solid middleweight with excellent acidity and very good fruit. Very well balanced with a silky/tangy mouthfeel. (3.0) Flavor: Not quite as interesting as the bouquet. Still very tasty. (3.0) Finish: Tart mineral/acidity and old vines complexity lingering. (3.0)
Overall: Excellent Cru Beaujolais with tart strawberry/plum fruit, racy acidity, classic minerality and tangy old vines complexity. Not a big vintage like '05 or '09, but very well balanced. Drink now and in the next couple of years. (15.5)
