Tasting Note

89    2006 Domaine Diochon Moulin-a-Vent VV     3/28/08 ($20)

13% alc (Kermit Lynch)
Color: Deep black raspberry. (3.0) Bouquet: Animal fur, minerals and some forestal nuances complementing rich raspberry, tart cherry and mint. Wonderful terroir. (3.0) Body: Middleweight with good fruit and excellent acidity and mineral. (3.0) Flavor: Parallels bouquet, but a little more restrained. (2.5) Finish: Parallels bouquet step-for-step with very good length and excellent terroir nuances. (3.0)
Overall: This is an excellent Cru Beaujolais with prominent old vines terroir. The raspberry and tart cherry complement very well, along with mint, animal fur and forestal scented Gamay and dried mango. This is right up my alley, so it drinks even better for me than the score implies. As enjoyable and interesting as the '05, but not as big or ageworthy. Drink now and in the next 2-3 years. (14.5)
