Color: Deep ruby. (3.5) Bouquet: Mineral-infused blackberries with rich mocha. (3.5) Body: Solid middleweight plus with excellent fruit and acidity. Tangy, lively and coats the mouth. (3.5) Flavor: Parallels bouquet with a mineral tang that lends a slight austerity to the rich fruit. Also some black licorice. (3.0) Finish: Long with elegance and smooth, substantial tannins . (3.0)
Overall: Excellent cool climate Syrah with intensity to the pure blackberry fruit and minerals, yet elegant with nuances of mocha and black licorice. Has an edge from youthful acidity, which would benefit from 5 years bottle age. A solid middleweight that is very well balanced. Decant for an hour or so for now drinking or age for 5+ years. (16.5)
