Tasting Note

95+   2009  Dehlinger   High Plains Pinot Noir (Russian River Valley)   3/10/18  ($60)

   15.4% alc
Color: Very deep black cherry to garnet. (3.5) Bouquet: Sweet/tart black cherry and black raspberry that's intense with minerality and subtle all-spice. (3.5) Body: Heavyweight with outstanding fruit and acidity, also subtle tannins underneath. Big, yet silky mouthfeel that coats the mouth beautifully. (3.5) Flavor: Parallels bouquet with explosive fruit, yet shows elegance for its size. (3.5) Finish: Long and intense, just like the flavor. (3.5)
Overall: Wow, is this Pinot intense! Yet has wonderful minerality and acidity that prevents it from becoming sappy (always a problem with most big CA Pinots). Classic Russian River Pinot in the best sense and perfectly balanced. Drink now and in the next 5 years, may go long. (17.5)
